Josie has over twenty years industry experience, most of it spent in telecoms and networking companies in the US and UK. Since May 2000, Josie has worked for Cisco Systems. For the majority of this time Josie was in Product Management where she became director of a software product line that supported some of the world’s leading Telecoms providers. More recently, Josie has moved to the European arm of Cisco’s Professional Services business and into a Strategic Planning and Operations role. Prior to Cisco, Josie held Business Development and Product Line management positions in companies including Atlantech Technologies (acquired by Cisco); Spider Systems and Bellcore. Josie has a B.Sc. in Applied Physics from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, and an M.S.E in Systems Engineering from University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she was a Thouron Scholar. She is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board of the School of Computing, Dundee University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters; trying to improve her golf handicap, as well as biking and hiking the beautiful, remote wildernesses of Scotland, and most recently, Canada.

Justine Cassell is the director of the Center for Technology & Social Behavior, and a full professor in the departments of Communication Studies and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science atNorthwestern University. She is also the graduate director of the new Technology and Social Behavior joint PhD in Communication and Computer Science. She holds courtesy appointments inLearning Sciences, Linguistics, and Psychology. Cassell previously held a tenured associate professor appointment at the MIT Media Lab where she directed the Gesture and Narrative Language Research Group. Quickly, this fascination for words and storytelling turned into a love of what she calls, "the science of language" which eventually led her to a Master's degree in Literature, a Master's in Linguistics, and two Ph.D's in Linguistics and Psychology. After more than ten years of study, she first applied her knowledge and interest in language development and communication to the technological advances found at the University of Pennsylvania Center of Human Simulation, where she designed a computer-generated intelligent character that possessed speech, gestures and facial expressions. This experience marked the beginning of Justine's interest in technology and its potential as an innovative tool for child development, online communication and virtual storytelling... Eileen Brown is CEO of Amastra; a company which helps you achieve your aspirations using offline and online social methods. She has been in a variety of roles in the IT Industry since 1993. After spending 10 years in the Merchant Navy as Shell Tankers first female Deck Officer, Eileen managed a fleet of ships in a container shipping company, moving into IT support, then training and management at a Microsoft Training provider in London, technical consultancy at HP and Manager of the IT Pro Evangelist team at Microsoft before leaving to start her own company. Eileen delivers consultancy engagements, projects, and workshops with companies to help them understand their strategy around Social Media, work out their architecture and extend their reach to engage better with their customers. She also delivers workshops to help individuals become a better speaker, deliver powerful presentations, and create energised teams in the workplace. Eileen is an accomplished and well-known international speaker and expert on Social Media, Online Branding, Web 2.0, Unified Communications and Systems Architecture and is a key advocate for the advancement of Women in Technology. She explores the art of the possible, looking at how technology is changing the world we live in, simplifying work and making you more productive. Eileen is a member of the IoD, the BCS, is part of the BCS Strategic panel for Women in IT, on the BCS Committee for the Essex region and is the Chair of Intellect Women in Technology strategic group. However, her life isn't spent entirely at her laptop. Away from work, she makes jam and chutney in awesome quantities, tends her flock of chickens, grows organic vegetables and fruit and races around the countryside in her home built 6.6 litre cobra replica car. Heidi Roizen is a celebrity in 'The Valley' and has her own entry in wikipedia. She has spent her life immersed in the Silicon Valley Ecosystem, as a member of the board, corporate executive, venture capitalist and member of the boards of private and public companies trade associations and nonprofit institutions. After receiving her undergraduate and MBA degrees from Stanford Univeristy, Heidi cofounded T/Maker Company. (an early personal computer software company) in 1983, where she served as CEO from inception through to its acquisition by Deluxe Corporation in 1994. In 1996 Heidi joined Apple as Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations. From there, Heidi entered the venture capital world serving as a Managing Director of Mobius Venture Capital from 1999 to 2007. Today Heidi splits her time between her entrepreneurial endeavour, SkinnySongs and board service in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. She is a member of the board of directors of TiVo (NASDAQ: TIVO) a director of the Yellow Pages Group (TSX:YLO.UN) and also serves on the advisory board of Springboard Enterprises and the National Center for Women in Information Technology. Jill BoultonTuesday 11th of April, GlasgowJill Boulton is managing director of Visual Products Ltd, an innovative consumer products company. Visual Products plans to take to market the first product for motorcyclists that will enable them to clean their visors while they are riding. Jill is currently raising funds for the R&D stage of this project, which will result in prototypes to be tested by police motorcyclists. A former newspaper journalist, Jill won a place on the Starter for 6 programme 2010 and was a regional finalist in the John Logie Baird Awards2009. The company has also come up with a mobile phone app called the CoolTimer, which tells you when the drink you’re chilling in the fridge or freezer is ready to drink. Emma McGrattan is senior vice president of engineering at Ingres. She is responsible for the development and integration of the Ingres database and associated products and technologies. A leading authority in DBMS technologies, Emma has been instrumental in the ongoing success of the Ingres product line. Emma joined Ingres from CA where she held a similar position and was responsible for the Ingres family of relational database management products. She started her career with Ingres in 1992, and has held a variety of senior development and management positions. Not only a talented engineer and manager, Emma is also a great communicator as transpires from her blog and many speaking appearances. Balancing intelligence with humor, she is known to have been referred to as a "firecracker" at more than one instance. Born in Ireland, Emma earned a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University. Shanna Tellerman is the Founder and CEO of Sim Ops Studios, Inc., a spin-off company from Carnegie Mellon University formed in January 2006. Shanna has overseen operations, development,fund raising, and strategic relationships since the formation of Sim Ops. She has several years of experience working in the video game and emerging serious games industry with a focus on breaking down the barriers for creative development in 3D environments by enabling the everyday user to create and self-publish 3D content. Graduating with a Masters degree in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2005, she was hired on as commercialization specialist at the Entertainment Technology Center to continue development and investigate commercialization opportunities for the highly publicized simulation training platform technology Hazmat Hotzone. This technology platform launched the formation of Sim Ops Studios, for which Shanna negotiated an exclusive technology license from CMU. Shanna has experience in a variety of roles including strategic development, business development, project management, user-centered design and research, and 3D artistic production. She worked as a production intern for Electronic Arts on The Sims 2, the sequel to the best-selling PC game ever, and has also researched and co-authored the paper titled "Emergent Stories in Massively Multiplayer Online Games: Using Improvisational Techniques to Design for Emotional Impact" (International Conference on Entertainment Computing, 2004).Shanna received her Bachelor's in Fine Arts and a Minor in Multi-Media Production from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003.
